About Chain Reaction Foundation

At Chain Reaction Foundation we are dedicated to improving the lives of young people in disadvantaged circumstances facing challenges like disconnection, mental health issues, and a lack of belonging. Our flagship program, Learning Ground, provides a proven framework for behavioural change and wellbeing.

For nearly two decades, Learning Ground has operated in Mount Druitt, helping young people and families:

  • Keep out of prison and prevent them from leading lives of crime.

  • Become leaders and influencers within their school.

  • Get and keep jobs to provide for their family.

  • Learn to be a positive contributor to their community.

  • Make a choice to lead a more positive way of life.

Kya's story

Meet Kya. She joined Chain Reaction Foundation's Learning Ground when she was 11, struggling with a weight of experiences that no child should have to bear. Growing up in a home surrounded by substance misuse and family violence, she’d witnessed more pain and instability than anyone her age should. She had already fallen through the cracks of the education system. She was depressed, disconnected from her culture, and uncertain about her place in the world. Kya’s future seemed set.

Then, Kya found Learning Ground, at the recommendation of her school. Through our mentorship programs, she found people who saw her potential, not her circumstances. For the first time in her life, she felt seen, heard, and valued. Our programs gave Kya the opportunity to explore her feelings, discover her heritage, and learn in an environment adapted to her.

Today, Kya is back in school, thriving and looking forward to going to high school, alongside the friends she’s made at Learning Ground.

Kya’s journey isn’t just about overcoming trauma, it’s about finding hope, pride, and a future worth fighting for. And it’s all thanks to supporters like you who make it possible.

Will you help make more stories like Kya’s possible? Your donation will give young people the chance to rebuild their lives, just as Kya has.

Why your support matters now more than ever

By donating today, you are providing young people in western-Sydney with a chance to break the cycle of poverty and offer hope where it’s often scarce.

For these young people, education is more than just learning, it’s showing them that they are seen, encouraging them to dream, and inspiring those around them. This isn’t just about transforming individual lives; it’s about creating safer, more compassionate communities and a brighter, more equitable future.
